How Blaine checks every claim
Blaine is a chat assistant whose answers are checked before you rely on them. It is built with a neuro-symbolic reasoning layer: AI writes the answer, and code and rules check it.
1. Exact answers by code first
Math, percentages, unit conversions, dates and time zones are worked out exactly by code, so they do not depend on a guess.
2. The answer is split into claims
Blaine reads the claims inside an answer instead of treating it as one block of text.
3. Claims are checked
Each claim is tested with code and fixed rules, and checked against reputable sources. Forums, social posts and SEO blogs do not count. An answer that clashes with something said earlier in the chat is caught too.
4. Every claim gets a mark
- Supported: two independent reliable sources agree with the claim.
- Disputed: a reliable source says something different, or the answer clashes with something said earlier.
- Corrected: a part was proven wrong, so it was fixed or taken out. Tap it to see the original.
- Unconfirmed: no source settled it.
Tap any mark to see why it was given, and for Corrected, the original version.
No confidence scores
You will not see a confidence score anywhere in Blaine. Marks describe what was established about a claim, and stop there.
Blaine is a decision support tool, not a guarantee of accuracy. For important decisions, use your judgment and verify key information.
