Privacy Policy
Blaine · Last updated: August 2026
This policy explains what Blaine ("we", "the app") collects, how we use it,
and the choices you have. Blaine is an AI assistant: you ask it things, and it
answers. Some work happens on your device and some is processed on our servers
and through the AI providers listed below.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address and display name. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider; we never see or store your password.
- Content you create — the messages and prompts you write, documents you upload, what Blaine remembers between conversations, your custom rules and instructions, and your app settings.
- Your own AI provider keys (optional) — if you choose to bring your own model-provider API key, it is stored encrypted at rest and used only to make requests on your behalf.
- Usage data — token counts and request metadata used to meter usage and bill accurately.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor (Stripe). We store a customer/subscription identifier and non-sensitive card metadata (card brand and last four digits). We never store full card numbers.
- Security & session data — authentication sessions, security tokens, and rate-limiting counters used to keep your account secure.
How we use your information
- To provide the core service: answering your questions, and checking those answers before you see them.
- To authenticate you and keep your account and data secure.
- To meter usage and process billing for paid plans.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the reliability of the service.
- To communicate with you about your account or the service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to train our own models.
Third-party services
To deliver the service we share the minimum necessary data with:
- AI model providers — your messages are sent to hosted model providers to produce and check answers. The providers we use may change over time as we improve quality, cost and speed; we do not send your content to any provider that trains on it.
- Our authentication provider — to sign you in and keep your session secure.
- Stripe — to process payments for paid plans.
- GitHub — only if you connect it, and only for the repositories you ask us to work with.
Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your
account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deleting
your account permanently removes your documents, chats, memories, and settings,
and cancels any active subscription. This action cannot be undone.
You can also download everything we hold about you at any time, as a single file
(Settings → Export my data). Your export never contains your keys or
payment details.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Sign-in credentials are held by our
authentication provider and never stored by us, and any provider API keys you supply
are encrypted at rest.
Children
Blaine is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
